Bobby Jones at Dollar Bob and Anne Jones (left) from Canby (Oregon), USA, played the course on 4th October 2005. Bob, a retired lecturer runs 'Pen & Print' (Speciality Writing & Photography) but among other things he is a golf writer with a particular interest in the lesser known golf courses of UK.
His book "Scotland's Hidden Gems; Golf Courses and Pubs" was published in March 2005, his second volume - Hidden Gems II: Scotland and Wales - is now complete but currently (Aug 2009) only available in the US. So for many it remains to be seen what he has to say about the slopes of Dollar but these two books between them offer some of the finest but least known golfing venues in the land. Click here to see some great photography and for more details of this busy golfer and writer. |
| Centenary Day - Saturday 9th September 2006
In 1906 The Countess of Mar & Kellie led off the ladies to inaugurate the start of golf on the "Dollar Banks" when both the Ladies and Gents Golf Clubs came together to play on the present course. To commemorate the event the present Countess attended a reception in the Clubhouse on Saturday 9th September 2006 after which she lead off teams of players, dressed in period costume, to the first tee from where they played a better ball competition over 6 holes.
With the golfers on their way she visited the nearby Dollar Museum where a special exhibition celebrated 100 years of Golf on the "Dollar Banks".

 | Presentation Lorraine Paterson was an employee at the Club for many years, as a regular for at least eleven and on and off, including post-retirement, for some fifteen years or so. During her employment - which encompassed everything from Club Stewardess to bar duties - she dealt effectively with a variety of duties and problems including high spirited visitors and a damaging fire. It was a pleasure, therefore, on 13th September, 2006, for the Hon Secretary and his wife, Stuart and Jean Morrison, to present her with a Debenham's voucher and a basket of flowers to formally recognise her valuable service. |
