DOLLAR GOLF CLUB ~ NEWS & COMMENT
Hello, I just wanted to say I am very sorry and sad to hear that the club and course will close this month. I have some great memories of playing the course over the last 20 years or so with friends who were members. It was always fun and always enjoyable.

|28.11.19||I was very sorry to hear about the club’s imminent closure. Although I only discovered the course three years ago, I count it as one of my favourites in the region - great views, a quirky layout with challenging contours, and a nice old-fashioned feel. And the added bonus of full greens all winter.

|23.11.19||We are saddened at Grantown Golf Club to hear your news. Sad as it may be, it appears to be a sign of the times and many Golf Clubs will disappear in the future, there are a large number who are just surviving, with operating costs escalating and golf membership dropping, the general feeling throughout the golfing fraternity is that the current trend will continue. What can I say except it has been a pleasure to have enjoyed the Centenary Matches with your club for almost 20 years and you will be missed within the Centenary group. I will pass your sad news on to our Members, many who have played in all/some of the matches over the years.
Allan Thom, Club Captain - 23rd November 2019
|22.11.19||This is indeed very sad news! My whole family including my three brothers, my father and mother probably were closely associated with the club for a combined 100 years!
So many fantastic times, and so many amazing people we met on the way! I will and still miss the amazing views from the 12th Fairway on those hot, sunny days whilst listening to the Dollar Pipe Band practicing in the distance.
You will be sadly missed!

|21.11.19||I'm saddened to hear your news. I have had many good days golf and socialising at Dollar golf club. I was the centenary captain of Grantown-on-Spey Golf Club and played and enjoyed the centenary matches at you club.

|21.11.19||I was so sorry to hear about the news that the golf club is closing at the end of the year. It was a huge part of both my parents life and my early life, nothing but great memories.
David Ritchie, 21st November 2019
Very sad to hear about the imminent closure of Dollar Golf Club. I was a pupil at Dollar Academy 1967-72 and played hundreds of rounds here and for old times sake I would love to come and play one more time.

|19.11.19||For those who follow Dollar Club through this website it may come as a shock to know that our Club will shut its doors for the last time on 31st December 2019.
Dollar Golf Club has been part of my life for many years. Although I have only been a member for over 40 years, I first played on Dollar more than 60 years ago.
We, the members, knew that the finances of the Club were in difficulty but thought we had one more year to find a solution. However, without warning, on 5th November we were told the course was closing on 31st December. An AGM had been called and with little fight and the merest whimper, Dollar Golf Club was no more.
I mourn its passing.
