2012 starts with a golf tour of Scotland
The third Winter Club Night was held 13th January in the clubhouse with familiar and new faces ready for some grub from Nicole and problem solving fun. Guest of honour was Kenny Ellicott, a Dollar club member, a qualified rules referee and the Scottish Golf Union representative for Clackmannanshire.

A happy ship with Kenny Ellicott (right).

Kenny relives his experiences as a Scottish Amateur Championship referee and keeps the audience amused with descriptions of 16 of the most famous golf courses in Scotland.

Then teams were then invited to choose 4 courses they would recommend to a visiting group based on historical interest notes available and Kenny’s own description and comments. Answers given by team presenters were quite varied with Kenny’s tips on Muirfield, Western Gailes and Machrihanish obviously tipping the balance for some teams:

The four presenters all made an excellent job of being golf tour sales representatives

John Young’s famous rules quiz had a new setting with each scenario being explained via the letsgetgolfing.com website.

The rabbit hole question

The evening ended with prizes, donated by Noreen Young, for the winning quiz team handed out by Kenny.

The juniors and parents all thanked Kenny Ellicott for his fascinating insights and support to the junior section.

Club nights are to be repeated every 2nd Friday each month through to March i.e. next club night is 10th February from 6-8pm.
