DOLLAR GOLF CLUB

Dollar's Progress to a Viable Future

With increased costs and declining memberships, Golf Clubs country-wide are finding problems and it is the smaller clubs which are suffering most. However, Dollar members in their 'DRIVE TO SURVIVE' campaign are active in meeting this challenge by raising funds from a variety of sources to enable it to remain open whilst plans are prepared probably to restructure the course and Clubhouse. Set out over 100 years ago the course is very much part of this historic village and a number of events are planned to raise funds. On 4th August 2009 four of Scotland's top amateurs took time out to add their support with the 'EAGLE & BIRDIE CHALLENGE' - three rounds on the day with brilliant prizes on offer in order to augment our fundraising campaign.

The progress made in 2009 has been remarkable. From a variety of sources the Club has now raised sufficient funds to continue to operate up to the end of the playing season in 2011 - providing we hold our present membership numbers. Thanks to Forward Scotland, our Sponsors, those who made donations, many members and FPs from Dollar Academy - this has been a truly amazing position to reach in six months since the campaign began. The Club’s long term sustainable future must now be secured over the next two years through a series of challenging decisions to modify our operation to a sustainable format for today's needs.
